When I first started floristry I just thought that all the flowers from the market were grown in Australia. Not until I started chatting with the flower wholesalers and other florists I was made aware that approximately 20% of flowers are imported from Kenya, Malaysia, Ecuador, Colombia, and other countries. When flowers are imported, they are also fumigated with chemicals to reduce the risk of introducing live pests and weeds into Australia.

Seasonal Flowers

When you embrace flowers that are in season you are getting a flower at its most beautiful stage.

There are so many benefits to designing with seasonal flowers.

  • Supporting Australian flower farms.

  • Lower carbon footprint as less resources are used to transport flowers.

  • Less need for packaging.

  • Embracing the beauty of mother nature.

  • Creating a look that feels harmonic within the environment.
