What is Floral Foam?

Floral foam is a light-weight, water-absorbent material that is used by majority of florists to create many designs, it makes designing easier and quicker when you only have a short amount of time at a wedding venue.

Why I don’t use Floral Foam

  • is single-use

  • crumbles easily

  • is made from petrochemicals

  • disposal in landfill only

  • harms aquatic animals

  • does not support circular objectives

The biggest concern with floral foam is what happens when it's disposed of. The foam isn't recyclable, and while it's technically biodegradable, it actually breaks down into tiny particles called microplastics that can remain in the environment for hundreds of years

What I use instead of foam

  • Chicken wire

  • Water vials

  • Moss

  • Kenzans /spiked flower frogs

I decided from the start to learn other ways of designing, Even though it requires a lot of thinking outside the box when creating. For me I think it's so important to practice sustainable floristry.

I strive to look to nature for inspiration and solutions.  While celebrating nature is my job, protecting nature is my duty.
